Salma Hayek, Pinault call off their engagement

July 19, 2008

Salma Hayek has called off her engagement to businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, her representative said yesterday.

The couple announced their plans to wed in March 2007, and welcomed a daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, several months later.

Hayek, 41, has starred in films such as “Frida,” “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over” and “After the Sunset.” She is one of the executive producers of ABC's “Ugly Betty” and the chief executive of Ventanazul, a production company she formed with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.

Pinault is the chief executive officer of the luxury goods company PPR SA, which owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Puma.

SPEARS GRANTED ADDITIONAL VISITATION WITH SONS

An attorney for Britney Spears said an agreement has been reached that grants the singer more visits with her children.

Attorneys for Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline met with a Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner in closed chambers yesterday.

Spears will now have three visits a week from Sean Preston and Jayden James, with at least two overnight visits, her attorney, Laura Wasser, said. Spears was granted one overnight visitation per week in late June. The attorneys still have to file a formal settlement agreement with the court.

While Federline still has full custody, Wasser said Spears may get expanded rights by the end of the year.

Neither Spears nor Federline appeared in court. Spears lost custody last year after several high-profile incidents of erratic behavior.

JAM TO HENDRIX 'GUITAR HERO'

Jimi Hendrix is coming to “Guitar Hero.”

The Seattle-based company Experience Hendrix, which controls the rock icon's musical legacy, is providing Hendrix's music and likeness for the latest “Guitar Hero” video game, a spokesman for publisher and developer Activision and Red Octane said Thursday.

It's the first time Hendrix's likeness will be showcased in the game.

An avatar of Hendrix as well as the song “The Wind Cries Mary” and a live version of “Purple Haze,” which was recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena, will be included on “Guitar Hero World Tour” – the fourth edition of the popular game franchise scheduled for release Oct. 27.

“World Tour” will be the first “Guitar Hero” to feature playable drums and a microphone.

Experience Hendrix provided Activision and Red Octane with various songs from Hendrix, who famously played the Woodstock music festival in 1969 and died of a drug overdose in 1970. Other Hendrix tunes would be released in the future as downloadable content for the game.
